Rockdale County lies in the northern part of Georgia, just east of metro Atlanta. It was formed in 1870 and named after the rock out-cropping on the Yellow River. The county seat is Conyers. The character of Rockdale is suburban to semi-rural, as it is part of the Atlanta commuter belt but still has areas of lower density and viable land. Housing types: suburban subdivisions of single-family homes, townhomes, some older ranch-style homes, and some homes on larger lots in less-developed zones. Home purchase ranges in many parts might fall in the US $300,000-$450,000 range depending on neighbourhood and lot size; for new builds on lots with space you might expect US $400,000-$600,000+ depending on size, finish and lot. For buyers wanting proximity to metro Atlanta jobs, good schools and suburban amenities but still some space, Rockdale County is a strong choice.
